Psychotherapy Services with Catherine Barlow

Catherine Barlow (MSW, RSW) has over 25 years experience counselling clients within hospitals and family health teams. She is a Psychotherapist with a Masters of Social Work degree (Registered Social Worker). She is also an Assistant Clinical Professor at the Michael DeGroote School of Medicine at McMaster University where she teaches first year medical students to be great Physicians. Catherine has extensive training in many therapeutic methods such as: cognitive behavioral therapy, narrative, mindfulness and solution focused therapy. Catherine is Certified in traumatic incident reduction (TIR) and a facilitator of life stress reduction techniques. She also uses EMDR (Eye movement desensitization reprocessing).

Catherine is passionate about many issues that impact our daily lives. She enjoys educating, improving mental/physical health and is dedicated to evidence based practice. Knowing how it impacts ones life to find meaningful volunteer or paid work, she has also contributed to the field of career counselling. She is trained in Myers Briggs Type Indicator, True Colors and was actively involved in: the Stories of Transition project (resilienceproject.org) and 'Career Crafting the Decade after High School' (ceric.ca). She has also contributed to the field of adoption by creating the documentary This is a Love Story.

She is a member of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers and the Ontario Association of Social Workers. She is also a member of the Traumatic Incident Reduction Association and EMDR Canada.
